A frequently asked question when signing digitally: does this signature have legal value? The answer depends on the type of signature and the context.
Types of digital signatures
There are three levels (eIDAS regulation): **Simple Electronic Signature (SES)**: a scanned signature or a drawn image in a PDF. Valid for most everyday documents. **Advanced Electronic Signature (AES)**: cryptographically linked to the signer. Stronger evidence. **Qualified Electronic Signature (QES)**: legally equivalent to a handwritten signature.
When is a simple signature valid?
For most business contracts, lease agreements, order confirmations, and internal documents, a simple electronic signature is sufficient. The law does not require a specific format — if both parties agree, it is valid.

When is a qualified signature required?
