Frequently asked questions
Is this legally binding?
The tool places an image of your signature in the PDF, similar to signing a document with a pen and scanning it. For many practical purposes — rental agreements, forms, quotes — this is sufficient. For formally legally binding signing (such as notarial deeds) there are separate qualified services with digital certificates.
Can I save my signature for later use?
No, the signature is not stored. You draw it fresh each time. This is by design for privacy — no personal data is saved.
Does this work on mobile?
Yes, on a smartphone or tablet you can sign with your finger. This often gives a more natural result than using a mouse on a computer.
On which page can I sign?
You choose yourself which page the signature goes on and where. You can also place the signature on multiple pages at once if needed.
What if my PDF is protected?
A protected PDF that prohibits editing cannot be signed. First use the "Unlock PDF" tool to remove the restriction.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your own browser. Your file never leaves your device and is not stored anywhere.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free, without watermark or account. The site is paid for by ads.

Why in the browser?
PDFrust runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly and modern JavaScript libraries such as pdf-lib and PDF.js. Your file is never sent to a server — all processing happens locally on your device. This means your documents remain private by design, regardless of what they contain. There is no account required, no file size limit, and nothing is stored after you close the tab.
