How to add a watermark or company logo to a PDF

A watermark protects your documents and makes them recognisable. Whether you want to add "DRAFT", your company logo, or a copyright notice — with PDFrust's watermark tool you do it without software.
Text vs. image watermark
A text watermark is a transparent text (e.g. "CONFIDENTIAL" or your company name) that runs diagonally or horizontally across the page. An image watermark places a logo or other PNG/JPEG file as a transparent layer on the page. Both are available in the watermark tool.
Setting transparency
A watermark works best when it is readable but does not completely cover the underlying text. Set transparency to 20–40% for a subtle effect. A higher percentage (60–80%) is appropriate when you want a clearly visible protection, e.g. on draft documents.

Watermark vs. stamp
A watermark is subtle and shows through the content. A stamp is large and conspicuous, intended to be seen immediately. Use a watermark for branding and copyright protection; use the stamp tool for status markings.
