Enlarge PDF for A3 printing: resize and scale up
1 min read·25 July 2026
Want to print an A4 document enlarged on A3 paper? PDFrust helps you set the correct page size and scale so your document prints perfectly at A3 size.
Scale A4 to A3
A3 is exactly twice A4 (A4: 210 × 297 mm, A3: 297 × 420 mm). To print an A4 PDF at double size on A3: use the resize tool and set the new format to A3. Content scales proportionally.
PDF resize vs. printer scaling
You can also scale via the print dialogue — choose "Fit to page" or set a scale factor (e.g. 141% for A4→A3). This works without modifying the PDF. PDFrust's resize tool modifies the PDF itself for consistent results across all printers.

Two A4 pages side by side on A3
Another common use: place two A4 pages side by side on one A3 sheet (for brochures or flyers). Use the nup tool: choose "2 pages per sheet" and set A3 as the paper format.
Watch resolution when scaling up
Enlarging a PDF effectively reduces embedded image resolution. An image at 150 DPI on A4 becomes 106 DPI at A3 scale. Test print results before printing large quantities.
