PDF poster printing: one large printout from multiple A4 sheets

1 min read·25 July 2026

Want to print a PDF as a large poster but only have an A4 printer? PDFrust's poster tool divides the page across multiple A4 sheets (tiles) that you then glue together.

What is poster printing?

Poster printing (also "tiling") divides a large image or page across multiple smaller sheets. Each A4 sheet contains part of the image with a small overlap. After cutting and gluing, you have one large poster.

Choose the final format

Set how large the poster should be: 2×2 sheets (approx. A2 format), 3×3 sheets (approx. A0 format), or a custom size. More sheets = larger poster but more print paper and gluing.

Set overlap

A small overlap (5–10 mm) between tiles makes it easier to align them correctly when gluing. PDFrust adds this overlap automatically.

Print and assemble

Print all PDF tiles on A4 paper (actual size, don't scale). Trim the edges along the print markings. Place the pieces together and glue onto a backing or directly onto a wall.

Source image quality

The larger the poster, the higher the resolution of the original must be. An A4 PDF at 300 DPI gives acceptable quality up to A1 format. Larger than that gives visible pixelation.
