Print multiple PDF pages per sheet

1 min read·23 July 2026

Want to print 2, 4 or 9 PDF pages on one A4 sheet? PDFrust's N-up tool places multiple pages side by side on one sheet — ideal for handouts, overviews or saving paper.

What is N-up printing?

N-up means printing N pages on one sheet of paper. With 2-up you get 2 pages side by side per sheet, with 4-up you get 4 pages in a grid. This is widely used for presentation handouts, lesson sheets and saving paper on long documents.

Which layouts are available?

The tool offers 2-up (2 pages per sheet, landscape), 4-up (4 pages per sheet, 2×2) and 9-up (9 pages per sheet, 3×3). Pages are scaled down to fit the sheet without content being cut off.

When do you choose N-up instead of the poster tool?

The N-up tool shrinks multiple pages onto one sheet — you get fewer sheets but smaller pages. The poster tool does the opposite: it enlarges one page across multiple sheets. N-up is for saving paper; poster is for printing larger.

Does the order stay correct?

Yes. Pages are placed left to right, top to bottom: with 4-up, page 1 is top left, page 2 top right, page 3 bottom left and page 4 bottom right. The reading order stays logical.
