How does a booklet layout work?

An 8-page booklet consists of 2 folded sheets. Sheet 1 contains pages 8, 1, 2 and 7 (outside and inside). Sheet 2 contains pages 6, 3, 4 and 5. The order is not intuitive but the tool calculates it automatically for any document size.

How do I use the booklet tool?

What if my document is not divisible by 4?

A booklet works with multiples of 4 pages (4, 8, 12, 16…). If your document does not have that, the tool automatically adds blank pages to the end so the total works out. Those blank pages then form the back cover.

Can I also make a large booklet?

The booklet tool creates the classic saddle-stitch layout (one set of folded sheets). For larger booklets of 40+ pages you can create multiple "signatures" (sets of 8-16 pages) and fold and assemble them separately.
