Prepare your PDF for perfect print output

A PDF that looks great on screen can print poorly — too small, clipped, or blurry. With the right preparation and PDFrust tools, your document prints as well as it looks on screen.

Resolution and DPI for printing

Printing requires at least 300 DPI for sharp text and images. Screen resolution is typically 72–96 DPI — images that look sharp on screen can print blurry. Use the pdf2jpg tool to check how images render at high resolution.

Check page size

Verify that the PDF page size matches your paper size before printing. An A4 PDF on A4 paper, a Letter PDF on Letter paper. Use the info tool to inspect page dimensions and the resize tool to convert if needed.

Margins and bleed

If content sits too close to the page edge, the printer clips it. Use the margins tool to add sufficient margin (minimum 10–15 mm). Want to print to the paper edge (full bleed)? Check whether your printer supports borderless printing.

Duplex printing

For double-sided printing, ensure the PDF has the correct number of pages and that content on even/odd pages is mirrored for the binding. The duplex tool helps adjust margins for the binding edge.
