Print PDF presentation handouts with multiple slides per page

2 min read·25 July 2026

Save paper and create compact handouts by placing multiple presentation slides on a single page. Learn how to convert your presentation PDF into professional handout format.

Why create handouts from your presentation?

Printing a 40-slide presentation uses 40 sheets of paper. By placing 4 or 6 slides per page you drastically reduce paper waste and create a compact document attendees can take home. Handouts are also ideal for meeting notes or study guides.

Multiple slides per page with N-up printing

The N-up feature places multiple PDF pages side by side on one sheet. Use the N-up tool on PDFrust to choose 2, 4, 6, 9 or 16 pages per sheet. Choose 4-up or 6-up for presentation handouts: slides remain readable but compact. 2-up works best for detailed slides with small text.

Step by step: create your handout

Upload your presentation PDF to PDFrust. Open the N-up tool. Select your desired number of slides per page (recommended: 4). Choose orientation: horizontal (slides left to right) or vertical. Download and send to printer. For double-sided printing, use the duplex tool to ensure the back side is correctly oriented.

Adding space for notes

Some handout styles include space beside each slide for handwritten notes. Achieve this by enlarging margins with the Margins tool: increase the right or bottom margin to create space next to or below each slide thumbnail.

Compress for email sharing

After creating the handout the file may be larger due to embedded images. Use the Compress tool to reduce file size before emailing it to attendees.
