How to fill in a PDF form online for free
1 min read·25 July 2026
Filling in a form in PDF format and returning it — that no longer requires printing and scanning. With PDFrust's formFill tool you fill in form fields directly in your browser.
Two types of PDF forms
Interactive forms have clickable fields: you click on the field and type. Non-interactive forms are flat PDFs: there are visual boxes but no clickable fields. The formFill tool supports both: interactive fields are filled in directly; for non-interactive PDFs use the stamp tool as an overlay.
FormFill tool in PDFrust
Open the formFill tool on PDFrust. Upload the form. PDFrust automatically detects the fill-in fields (name, address, date of birth, signature field, checkboxes). You click on each field and type the correct value. Then download the completed form.

Checkboxes and radio buttons
Tick boxes (checkboxes) you click to check; radio buttons you select by clicking them. PDFrust processes them correctly so the visual marking is correct when downloading. After filling in you can flatten the fields (flatten tool) so they can no longer be edited.
Privacy tip
You sometimes fill in sensitive data (national ID, bank account number). Use a tool that processes locally — PDFrust does this in your browser, without uploading to a server. Always check this with the tool you use: look at the privacy statement.
