How to add a signature to a PDF: free and without software

A document needs signing but you don't want to print, sign, and scan? With PDFrust's sign tool you place your signature directly in the PDF — drawn with your mouse, touchscreen, or uploaded as an image.

Three ways to sign

Option 1: draw directly in the browser with your mouse or trackpad (works best on a touchscreen). Option 2: upload a photo or scan of your handwritten signature as PNG or JPEG — PDFrust places it at the exact location in the PDF. Option 3: type your name in a handwriting font as a fallback.

Precise placement

After drawing or uploading your signature you drag it to the right place in the document. You can scale and rotate the image. On contracts the correct position (next to the name, above the date) is important for legal validity.

Save your signature

Want to use the same signature multiple times? Save your signature image as a PNG with transparent background. Next time you upload it directly in the sign tool for a consistent signature on all documents.

After signing: flatten

After signing use the flatten tool to permanently bake the signature into the PDF. This prevents someone from moving or removing the signature. The final file is then ready for archiving or returning.
