Set PDF header and footer: company name, date, page number

1 min read·25 July 2026

Professional documents have consistent headers and footers. Add your company name, date, page number or other text to every page of your PDF — free in your browser.

What's the difference from page numbers?

The page number tool only adds the page number. The header/footer tool is more comprehensive: you can place multiple elements — left, centre and right — in both header and footer. E.g. company name left, document title centre, page number right.

Fill in the header

The header appears at the top of every page. Common content: company name or logo, document title, version number, department. Choose your text content, font and alignment.

Fill in the footer

The footer appears at the bottom. Common content: page number, date of creation, confidentiality notice ("Confidential — not for distribution"), or contact details.

Adjust margins

Make sure the header and footer don't overlap existing content. If the PDF already has tight margins, first increase them with the margins tool, then add the header/footer.

Consistency in long documents

For reports or presentations that are updated multiple times: save the header/footer settings as a template so you can quickly reuse them next time.
