Your PDF won't open, shows an error, or displays blank pages? A corrupted PDF is frustrating but not always lost. PDFrust attempts to recover damaged files.
Why do PDFs get corrupted?
PDF files get corrupted by: incomplete download (file half downloaded), storage problems (defective USB drive, disk errors), email attachment corrupted by spam filter or size limit, error when saving in PDF software, or ransomware/malware that affected files.
What does the repair tool do?
PDFrust attempts to reconstruct the PDF structure. This works well for lightly damaged files — missing EOF marker, minor structural errors, incomplete cross-reference table. Heavily damaged files (encrypted, major data loss) are not always recoverable.

If the repair tool doesn't help: try downloading the file again from the source, ask the sender to resend it, or try a different PDF viewer (Firefox, Chrome, Foxit) instead of Adobe.
Prevention
Back up important PDF files regularly. Don't only store them on USB drives — use cloud storage as an extra copy. Check downloads by opening the file immediately after receipt.
After repair
Check the repaired PDF carefully: are all pages present, is the text readable, are images intact? Save the repaired version under a new filename.
