Every PDF contains metadata — hidden information about the creator, the program, the creation date and more. PDFrust lets you view, edit and remove metadata before sharing the document.
What's in PDF metadata?
Standard PDF metadata includes: the author name (username of the creator), the program used to create the PDF (e.g. "Microsoft Word"), the creation date and time, the modification date, document title and description, and sometimes the version history. This information isn't visible in the PDF viewer unless you specifically look for it.
When to remove metadata?
Remove metadata when: you're sending a document to a client and don't want to share the internal username or edit history, for legal documents that must contain no personal information, for publication on a website (search engines can index metadata), or after changes where the original creation date is no longer relevant.

Security and privacy
Metadata removal is a basic form of privacy protection. For sensitive documents: also remove annotations, comments and tracked changes (flatten tool) before final sharing.
