Print a PDF as a poster on multiple A4 sheets
2 min read·23 July 2026
Want to print a map, floor plan or image in large format but only have a regular printer? With PDFrust's poster tool you split a PDF page across multiple A4 sheets that you can then tape together.
How does the poster tool work?
Load your PDF in the tool and choose the grid: 2×1 (2 sheets side by side), 2×2 (4 sheets), 3×3 (9 sheets) or 4×4 (16 sheets). Each page is divided into equally sized tiles. The resulting PDF file contains as many pages as tiles.
How large will the final poster be?
With 2×2 on A4 the poster becomes approximately 42×59 cm (A1 format). With 3×3 on A4 you get about 63×89 cm. With 4×4 on A4 the result is almost 84×119 cm — slightly smaller than A0. Larger grids require more prints but deliver impressive sizes.

How do I tape the sheets together?
Print all sheets and trim the margins so the content aligns seamlessly. Lay the sheets on a flat surface and use tape or glue on the back. For large formats it helps to first assemble the top row, then the bottom row.
Which PDFs are suitable?
The tool works best with images, maps, floor plans and diagrams. Text PDFs can also be used but the letters become small when zooming into a tile. Choose a source page with high-contrast content for the best result.
