Why PDF and not Word?

A Word document looks different on every computer — fonts, margins and layout can shift. A PDF preserves exactly your formatting regardless of the device or software the recruiter uses. PDF is the standard for professional job applications.

From Word: "File" → "Save As" → PDF. In Google Docs: "File" → "Download as" → PDF. Using Canva for your CV? Export as "PDF Standard" (not print). After exporting, check that all text is readable and no elements have shifted.

Filename: professional and clear

Use a professional filename: CV_FirstName_LastName.pdf and CoverLetter_FirstName_LastName.pdf. Avoid "cv_final3.pdf" or "motivation new.pdf". Recruiters sometimes receive dozens of attachments — a recognisable name makes it easier.
