Every PDF file contains hidden information: the author, the title, the program used to create it, and the creation date. With PDFrust you edit this metadata without recreating the file.

What is PDF metadata?

Metadata is data about the file, not the content itself. It typically contains: title, author, subject, keywords, creation date, modification date and the name of the program that created the file. Some organisations require specific metadata for archiving.

Why edit metadata?

You might want to replace your name with a generic author name before sharing. Or you have a file that still contains the name of the original author from another organisation. You can also change the title that appears in the browser window.

How does the metadata tool work?

Load your PDF in the metadata tool. You immediately see the current values for title, author, subject and keywords. Edit the fields and click save. The modified file downloads directly.

Can I also change the date?

The creation and modification dates are technical fields that are automatically updated by the tool at the time of saving. Setting a specific date manually is not possible via the metadata tool.
