How to edit PDF metadata: title, author, keywords

The metadata of a PDF (title, author, subject, keywords) are invisible to readers but visible in Windows Explorer, search results, and PDF viewers. With PDFrust you edit them for free in your browser.

What is PDF metadata?

Metadata is information about the document itself, not the content. This includes: Title (document name), Author (creator), Subject (category), Keywords (for searching), and Creator (which software made the PDF). In Windows you see it via right-click > Properties > Details.

Why edit it?

A PDF with the correct title is more findable via Windows search. For professional documents you want the author name to be correct. Keywords help with organising a large document library.
