How to create a PDF booklet for printing

1 min read·25 July 2026

Printing a booklet means placing pages in the right combination on a sheet of paper so that after folding and stapling you get a correctly ordered booklet. PDFrust's booklet tool handles the page arrangement automatically.

How does a booklet layout work?

In an 8-page booklet the outer sheet has: page 8 left and page 1 right (front); the inner sheet has: page 2 left and page 7 right. After double-sided printing, folding, and stapling the pages are in the right order.

Open the booklet tool on PDFrust. Upload your PDF. PDFrust automatically rearranges the pages in booklet order and combines two pages per sheet. Download the result and print double-sided.

Print the right way

Print the booklet PDF double-sided with "Bind along the short edge" (landscape mode). Then fold the sheets in half and staple in the centre. Check the order before stapling.

Multiple pages per sheet (NUp)

Want multiple pages per sheet without booklet ordering (e.g. 2-up or 4-up)? Use the NUp tool on PDFrust — that places multiple thumbnail pages on one sheet without the booklet ordering.
