How to remove blank pages from a PDF

1 min read·25 July 2026

After merging or scanning documents, blank pages often sneak into a PDF. With PDFrust's blankPages tool you detect and automatically remove all blank pages in one step.

Why are there blank pages?

Blank pages appear after merging multiple PDFs (one ended on an odd page), after double-sided scanning (back of the last page is blank), or when a Word document with too many line breaks was exported to PDF.

BlankPages tool in PDFrust

Open the blankPages tool on PDFrust. Upload your PDF. PDFrust automatically detects pages that are completely blank (no text, images, or annotations). You see which pages will be removed before confirming. Click Remove and download the clean PDF.

What is a 'blank' page?

A page is considered blank if it has no visible content. A page with only a watermark or an invisible text layer (e.g. from OCR) is not considered blank. You can adjust the sensitivity threshold if you also want to remove near-blank pages.

Manual deletion as an alternative

Know exactly which pages you want to remove? Use the delete tool and enter the page numbers manually. That gives more control than automatic detection.
