Combine PDFs on iOS: Files app vs PDFrust

1 min read·25 July 2026

Need to merge PDFs on your iPhone or iPad? Apple's Files app has limited PDF capabilities. PDFrust works entirely in the Safari or Chrome browser — without installing an app.

Method 1: Files app on iOS

Select multiple PDFs in the Files app, long-press one file, choose "Quick Actions" → "Create PDF". Works only if you have exactly the files you need — no reordering, no page selection.

Method 2: PDFrust in Safari

Go to pdfrust.com in Safari on your iPhone. Choose the merge tool. Tap "Add files" and select your PDFs from the Files app, iCloud Drive or AirDrop-received files. Reorder via drag-and-drop and download the result.

AirDrop as source

Received PDFs from others via AirDrop? They're stored by default in your Downloads folder in the Files app. You can select them directly in the PDFrust upload interface.

File size on iOS

iPhones don't automatically compress PDFs created from the camera. If you merge multiple scanned documents, the result can be large. Use the compress tool after merging.

Save to iCloud

After downloading, the combined PDF is in your Downloads folder or the location you chose. Move it to iCloud Drive for automatic back-up and access on all your Apple devices.
