PDF guide for funeral directors and funeral homes
2 min read·25 March 2027
Funeral directors process death certificates, authorisation forms, condolence books, and invoices. With PDFrust all these documents can be quickly and respectfully compiled, archived, and secured.
Compile the death file
A death file contains the death certificate, burial or cremation permit, the family's instructions, and payment agreements. Merge all documents into one file per deceased. Add bookmarks per section for quick navigation.
Prepare funeral stationery as PDF
Funeral cards, memorial booklets, and obituary text are supplied as PDF to the printer. Before submitting, verify that the PDF meets printer requirements: embedded fonts, CMYK colour, and trim marks. Do not use the Compress tool for print files — the printer needs high resolution.

Sign authorisation forms
Next of kin sign authorisations for burial, cremation, or organ donation. Save signed forms immediately as a protected PDF. Flatten all signatures so they are legally irrefutable. Send only to authorised parties (crematorium, local authority).
Prepare and archive invoices
Funeral invoices are legally required to be itemised. Export the invoice as PDF and stamp it with the date and file number. Archive all invoices per financial year in a bundled file. Protect the archive with a password.
Digitise condolence registers
Paper condolence books are scanned after the funeral. Use the OCR tool to make the scanned text searchable. Deliver the digital version to the family as a PDF attachment with the letter of thanks.
