PDF guide for cybersecurity and IT security professionals

2 min read·4 March 2027

IT security specialists document incident reports, write security policies, prepare audit reports, and share pen test results. PDFrust helps with protecting, redacting, and archiving sensitive security documentation.

Redact incident reports for external sharing

A security incident report contains sensitive technical details: vulnerabilities, affected systems, exploit paths. Before external sharing (clients, regulators, insurer): use the Redact tool to permanently remove non-public technical details. Always retain the unredacted version secured internally.

Protect pen test reports

A penetration test report contains vulnerability information that must not fall into the wrong hands. Protect the report using the Protect tool (strong password, no printing, no copying). Always send the password via a separate channel — never in the same email as the document.

Archive security policy as PDF

Information security policy (ISMS, ISO 27001) is periodically reviewed. Flatten each final version of the policy document after approval. Add a stamp with version number and approval date. Archive all versions so compliance is demonstrable during audits.

Bundle audit evidence

ISO 27001 or SOC2 audits require supporting evidence: screenshots, log files, policy documents, test results. Merge all evidence per control point using the Merge tool. Add bookmarks per ISO clause for quick auditor navigation.

Redact sensitive data in log files

Log files attached to incident reports or audit dossiers may contain passwords, API keys, or personally identifiable information. Export the log as PDF and use the Redact tool to remove sensitive strings before including them in the report.
