PDF guide for tax advisers and fiscal lawyers

2 min read·24 September 2026

Tax advisers produce tax returns, objections, appeals, and fiscal reports for individuals, director-shareholders, and businesses. Accurate PDF management supports timely submission, evidence documentation, and the statutory retention obligation for tax documents.

Merging client dossiers per tax year

A complete client dossier per tax year contains the return, calculations, correspondence with the tax authority, and annual statements. Merge all documents into one PDF per client per tax year. Use the tax identification number or client number as a file name component for rapid retrieval.

Securing objections and appeals

Objections and appeals contain sensitive financial information and legal arguments. Protect the final version with edit restrictions for archiving. Stamp the document with the submission date and procedure number for the tax chamber.

Compressing returns for digital submission

PDF returns with attachments (annual accounts, bank statements, invoices) can become large. Compress the return package to the maximum upload limit of the tax authority portal. Check after compression that all figures are legible.

OCR-archiving tax assessments

Tax assessments are received as PDFs or paper. Scan paper assessments and apply OCR so assessment amounts, assessment numbers, and tax years are searchable in the client archive. Archive as PDF/A for the statutory retention period of seven years.

Merging fiscal reports for shareholders

Fiscal advice notes, due diligence reports, and tax planning reports for director-shareholders are discussed in shareholder meetings. Merge the reports with the meeting minutes into one dossier. Stamp the dossier with "CONFIDENTIAL – FISCAL PROFESSIONAL SECRECY".
