PDF guide for occupational therapists
2 min read·2 October 2026
Occupational therapists produce treatment reports, report to GPs and insurers, and manage test results and assistive device recommendations. With the right PDF tools, paperwork meets healthcare privacy requirements and communication with referrers runs smoothly.
Compiling and sending treatment reports
A treatment report covers registration data, the presenting problem, observations, test results, and treatment goals. Merge all separate documents into one PDF per client using the merge tool. Tailor the referrer report: remove client-specific attachments not intended for the GP using the delete tool.
Editing and anonymising test results
Test results (COPM, AMPS, strength and coordination measurements) are personal data. Remove name and date of birth with the redact tool for anonymisation for educational or research purposes. Store the anonymised version separately from the original client file.

Documenting assistive device recommendations
An assistive device recommendation (adapted cutlery, lifting aid, home adaptation) includes photos, measurement overviews, and product specifications. Merge photos of the home situation with the specifications of the recommended device into one PDF. Merge the supplier's quote with the advisory report for a complete application file.
Efficiently submitting insurer reports
Health insurers request treatment reports in a standardised format. Compress large PDF files with the compress tool to below the upload limit of the insurer portal. Stamp the final report with the treatment date and your registration number for formal identification.
