Merge many PDF files efficiently: workflow tips
2 min read·25 July 2026
Merging dozens or hundreds of PDFs is labor-intensive without the right approach. Learn how to do this efficiently.
When you need to merge many PDFs at once
Situations where you need to merge large numbers of PDFs: monthly reports from multiple departments, processing scanned documents in batches, archiving projects where individual files are bundled, and software reports generated per department or per day. The right tool and workflow can mean the difference between an hour and a minute of work.
PDFrust Merge for small batches
Upload multiple PDFs at once to the Merge tool on PDFrust. Drag files into the desired order before merging. Click merge and download the combined file. PDFrust processes dozens of files at once. Ideal for batches of 2–50 files.

Determining order for large batches
For large batches, order is critical. Use consistent file names that sort chronologically: "2026-07-01_report.pdf", "2026-07-02_report.pdf", etc. If files are uploaded in the correct order (sorted by name), the merged document is automatically built in the right order.
Merge and then organize
After merging large batches you often want to reorder pages or remove unnecessary ones. Use the Organize tool on PDFrust to browse the merged document and delete, duplicate or reorder pages. Save the final result as the definitive file.
Compress after merging
A merged file from 100 PDFs can be large. Use the Compress tool after merging to reduce file size. This is especially effective when the individual PDFs contain images that are redundant after merging.
