PDF guide for judges, court clerks, and judiciary staff
1 min read·21 January 2027
Court clerks and judiciary staff work with summonses, case documents, interim and final judgements. PDFrust helps protect, archive, and professionally manage legal case documents.
Compile a case file
A court case file contains the summons, statements of claim and defence, exhibits, and records of hearings. Merge all documents in chronological order. Add bookmarks per procedural step for navigation through the digital file.
Finalise a judgement
A judgement is drafted in a word processor and exported as PDF. Flatten the document to permanently embed all form fields and annotations. Add the judge's signature via the Signature tool. Save the judgement in the final case file.

Redact sensitive information
In published judgements, the names of parties and other identifying information are anonymised in accordance with data protection law. Use the Redact tool to permanently remove names, dates of birth, and addresses before publication on legal databases.
Archive hearing records
Hearing records are scanned and saved as PDF. Use OCR to make scanned transcripts searchable. Add the hearing record to the case file in the correct chronological position.
Protect large case files
Court case files contain highly sensitive information. Protect the digital file with access restriction (password). Set the file so it cannot be copied or printed by unauthorised parties. Archive final files in compliance with retention legislation.
